5 Top Tips to Ease Yourself Back into the Action

Playing paintball in the worst of the winter weather isn’t everybody’s idea of fun – so if you’ve been in paintball hibernation for the last couple of months we won’t hold it against you. But with spring in the air and better weather hopefully on the way too it’s the perfect time to grab a paintball gun and get back into the action.

But before you charge straight into battle it’s probably a good idea to brush up on your combat skills. So to help you survive your first game back here are our top tips to avoid an early elimination.

1) Remember the basics

It’s unlikely you’ve forgotten absolutely everything about paintball over the winter, but just in case it’s definitely worth brushing up on all the boring stuff. After all you don’t want to be forced to sit out your first game back for peppering the marshal with paintballs.

2) Start slowly

Whatever sport you play, after a spell on the sidelines you’re bound to be a little rusty and paintball is no different. The best advice is to start out slow and ease yourself back in to the action, which is easier said than done once the action gets under way. With paintballs flying from all angles taking it steady will be the last thing on your mind but at least try not to go charging off like Rambo as soon as you hear the marshals whistle.

3) Work as a team

Your team mates are there to help you so make the most of them, if you go running off on your own you’ll be outnumbered and eliminated before you know it! Working well as a team not only improves your survival chances it also gives you a better chance of winning the game and if you’re struggling to keep up with the action you can always let your team mates take care of all the hard work!

4) Keep it simple

No matter how much of a tactical genius you think you are it’s best to keep things simple in your first game back. Well drilled tactical assaults can be incredibly effective but the chances are it won’t run as smoothly as you planned first time out, so maybe leave the flip chart and tactical diagrams at home.

5) Enjoy yourself

If you’ve taken an extended break from paintball make the most of your first game back and enjoy yourself, you’ll quickly realise what you’ve been missing out on over the winter months!
