Five Frantic Paintball Games You Need To Try!
Nothing beats a good game of last man standing when it comes to paintball, and survival skills you never knew you had suddenly come flooding out as you battle it out to be the lone survivor. The fun and fury of a last man standing match can be total mayhem, so if you’re looking for something with a little more structure that will really put your paintball tactics to the test here are a few alternatives.
1. Capture the flag – Another classic of the paintball world, the aim is simple; capture your opponents flag and return it to base without being eliminated. The great thing about capture the flag is that there are so many different variations on the classic game. For example you can play with just one flag placed in the centre of the paintball field. The two teams then have to battle their way to the centre of the field and gain possession of the flag. The game ends when a team returns the flag to their base or when all players have been eliminated. The key to winning a game of capture the flag is teamwork, so why not see if you and your team have got what it takes to snatch victory from your opponents with a game of the capture the flag.
2. Plant the bomb – A classic game of attack vs defence that will really put your tactics to the test. One team starts out with a ‘bomb’ which they must plant in the heart of the enemy’s base, without being eliminated in the process. The ‘bomb’ can be anything you can get your hands on, a box, a ball or even a smoke grenade. It doesn’t really matter, all that matters is that you get it into your opponents base without getting covered in paint! The opposition have the task of defending their base, making sure the bomb doesn’t make its way into the designated area. No team has an advantage and eliminations still count, so you’ll constantly have to adapt your tactics to come out on top.
3. President/VIP – One lucky person gets the VIP treatment but that doesn’t mean they’re safe from being peppered by paintballs! Each team has a VIP or President whom they must protect at all costs, if that person gets hit it’s game over. The VIP will be identifiable by a bright piece of clothing or bib, meaning there’s no chance of a team trying the old switcheroo. Once each team has chosen their VIP you can then decide whether or not they should be armed, sometimes it’s more fun if they’re not as they’ll do anything possible to avoid being hit. The main objective is to eliminate your opponents VIP, taking out any member of the opposing team that gets in your way! The game ends when one of the VIPs is hit, bringing the mayhem to an abrupt end.
4. King of the hill – A flat out race to capture and hold as many bases as possible. Each team starts in their own base and then races across the paintball field to capture a number of neutral bases. The team that capture all the bases or eliminate all of the opposition are the winners..simple! This is a great game if you’ve got plenty of players but can very easily descend into to total mayhem, which makes it even more fun. It’s more than likely that one teams players will be totally eliminated before either side gets control of all the bases. So to come out on top in a king of the hill match you’ll have to find a balance between all out attack and resolute defence.
5. Predator vs Prey – An ever changing game in which the hunter can become the hunted in the blink of an eye, meaning nobody is safe! Players are split into two teams, normally with more people on the side of the predators. The team of prey then make their way into the paintball playing area and do their best to hide from the oncoming predators. The team of predators will then begin the hunt and track down their prey! If one of the predators manages to shoot you, you have no choice but to cross over to their team and hunt down the rest of the prey. However if you manage to hit one of the predators they’re out of the game! The game ends when the predators have caught all of their prey or when all predators have been eliminated.
