Tim’s Stag Weekend in Newcastle

“A big thanks to everyone at Go Ballistic for helping Steve and the lads put together the perfect Stag Do for me  in sunny Newcastle!

I work in an office all week, but I’m an action man deep down and I love a good skirmish. I’m a bit like Chuck Norris in the film Delta Force, except without the beard! For my Stag Weekend we tried Clay Pigeon shooting and then spent the afternoon shooting each other instead, in a massive game of paintball.

I think I’d mentioned to the lads that I’d booked a paintball day through Go Ballistic previously, so Steve didn’t hesitate to contact you again but I had no idea you’d put together such a brilliant package.

We travelled from Liverpool on Friday night and a moderate amount of beer was had before we crashed out at the hostel that you guys sorted out for us.

On Saturday morning, they dragged me out of bed and into the clay pigeon shooting gallery. It took a little getting used to at first, but the kickback soon woke me up and after a few words from one of the tutors on site, I got the hang of it. I’d like to say I was using the same target as the pro’s but the site offers a range of sizes to suit your skill level. I think mine we’re like tractor wheels!

When the clay exploded the feeling was great, but the group had a good laugh when it didn’t. We all practiced our aim knowing we’d be shooting each other later that day!

The sun was out at this point and the venue offered us some great views of Northumberland that we’d never have seen if we’d stayed in the city centre. The fresh air probably cleared a few hangovers too!

Now that we’d perfected our sharp shooting, we had a bit of lunch back in Newcastle and headed to the paintball venue!

And what a venue! For a start, they paid our taxi fares back to us in paintballs. I just didn’t realise most of those paintballs would be heading my way! It turned out Steve had booked us in for the ‘Stag Hunt’ package. It meant that the lads had been given 400 paintballs and were under orders to give me special treatment throughout the day.

We kicked things off with a free for all game, a chance for the boys to get used to their weapons and also the grounds. As I understand, we were supposed to be playing as individuals but it seemed like every paintball in the place was coming my way! They were a team out to punish the stag.

Afterward we were split into teams for the rest of the games, but I was still catching paintballs from left, right and centre. Should have known what I was getting myself into! Still, rather than feel sorry for myself I tried to take as many of them down with me as I could, and Chuck, himself, would have been proud!

Once back in Newcastle we made sure we ticked the rest of the Stag Do boxes but I won’t go into all the gory details!

Just wanted you all to know that the weekend was a massive success and wouldn’t have been anywhere near as good without the excellent action adventure package from Go Ballistic. Going out on the lash with the boys would have been one thing, but it’s been another thing entirely to let loose with a rifle and a paintball gun! What a weekend!”
